¡@¡@Good morning principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates. I am Suki Fong
of form 6A. Today, I am going to share with you the meaning of Christmas.
In this day and age, most of us only focus on enjoying our holidays. However,
Christmas has different meanings to different people. So I am going to
talk about it in different aspects.
From the commercial point of view, Christmas is practically the largest
annual economic stimulus for many nations. It is a good chance for companies
to make a profit. Taking Hong Kong as an example, in order to attract
more customers, shopping malls would be decorated beautifully during Christmas.
Also, the revenue of retailers will increase dramatically as people would
purchase gifts and cards for their friends. Besides, some restaurants
even promote Christmas dinner sets so as to gain more profits. So, catering
service would be stimulated as well. Therefore, the meaning of Christmas
for business men is to gain more profits.
For Christians, the birth of Jesus is one of the most important events
in their religion. So that Christmas is not a festival for them to have
fun but to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and worship God. In the
morning of Christmas day, Christians will go to church and have worship.
At night, they will have an evangelization to spread the love of God to
everyone.
For students, Christmas is a big day. We have a long holiday of about
two weeks to take a mid term break. Also, we will have different types
of celebrations, such as having parties or dinners with our friends and
family. Moreover, this holiday can let us put down our pressure from study.
To conclude, although Christmas has different meanings to different people,
we should always remember the real meaning of Christmas, which is thanksgiving.
We should also give thanks while we are enjoying our holiday. Lastly,
hope all of you can have a happy and meaningful Christmas. That's the
end of my sharing. Thank you.
