Fire Dragon Making Workshop
Fire Dragon Making Workshop
Junior form students spent a few Tuesday afternoons recreating a piece of Hong Kong cultural heritage – a Fire Dragon. Upon arrival at Pok Fu Lam Village, students climbed dozens of steps to get to the venue for the workshop – Po Fu Lam Welfare Association. In a room with only ceiling fans, and holding just a cutter and clamp, they experienced all the hardships which lion dancers would have experienced in the old times.
To recreate a whole dragon, they were tested for their dedication and perseverance: breaking bamboo into strips, trimming strips, tying strips with wire to form the body, and covering the body with dry grass, all done under the supervision of masters. It was a really fruitful hands-on experience for our students.
