Date: 2016-03-17
Eighty Form 5 students of YCK 2 participated in a 2-day careers and life planning tour on 17th and 18th March, namely the ‘Careers Exploration Tour in Guangzhou’, organized by the Hong Kong Education Bureau. Many positive feedbacks from the students have been received.
On the first day of the trip, they visited one of the biggest shipyards operated by the Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) Company Limited in China to learn more about the ship-making industry in China and the job perspectives in the field. Students were stunned by the advanced technology acquired by the company in building large ships.
In the afternoon, they visited Jinan University in Guangzhou. Its mission is to spread Chinese learning and culture from North to South, and from China to overseas. Jinan University was the first university in China to recruit foreign students and is currently the university in China with the largest number of international students. In this visit, students could know more about the programs it offers and its enrollment methods for Hong Kong students.
On the second day, they visited the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, which was founded in 1956 and is one of the four earliest established institutions in China specialized in Chinese traditional medicine. Our students were quite interested in the Chinese medicine subjects. In this visit, students could know more about the contents and features of different programs offered by the university and its enrollment methods for Hong Kong students.
Students have all participated actively in watching the rapid development of the economy of China and frequently asked questions about the academic and career opportunities in China throughout the trip.
